When you think of chili fries, what comes to mind—french fries with fake cheese and beans, possibly eaten from a paper plate at your local baseball park? Think again. These baked chili fries are crispy chili pepper fries, healthier, spicier, and more addictive than the game-day original. 

Just slice poblano and jalapeno peppers into thin strips and coat them with flour, egg, cheese, and your favorite spicy brown mustard. Bake them in the oven, and voila! A tasty appetizer of medium heat that all your game-day guests will enjoy. Feel free to change up the type of cheese—grated romano also works wonderfully with this recipe—and pair these fries with your favorite creamy dipping sauce. With appetizers like these, your friends and family will be happy to skip the stands for a spot in front of the TV and an extra-large, extra-spicy serving of home cooking.

  • 6 large Jalapeno Peppers
  • 4 large Poblano Peppers
  • 1 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 2 Tbsps Spicy Mustard
  • 1 Cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 Cup Grated Parmesan
  • season to taste with Salt
  • season to taste with Pepper
