Homemade hot sauce tastes more vibrant than store-bought and it takes hardly any time to make. Yellow mustard and just a touch of allspice give Grace Parisi’s sauce a distinctive, complex flavor. Habanero chiles are already quite fiery but to make the sauce truly incendiary, add some of the seeds.

Ingredients for Habanero Mustard Hot Sauce

  • 4 tsps Ancho Chili Powder (or any Chili Powder)
  • 2 Tbsps Lime
  • 14 Habanero Peppers
  • 12 Cloves peeled Garlic
  • 8 coursely chopped Scallions
  • 1 sliced Carrot
  • 3/4 Cup chopped Cilantro
  • 2 Tbsps Thyme Leaves
  • 3/4 Cup Distilled White Vinegar
  • 3/4 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Yellow Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp ground All Spice
  • 1 Tbsp Kosher Salt
