Made with the Datil Pepper (similar in heat to habaneros but a sweeter, fruitier flavor), this hot sauce has an interesting sweet and tangy blend. It begins with flavors of Tomato, Sweet Onions, and Bell Peppers which add some flavor complexity and natural sweetness in addition to the added Brown Sugar, Molasses, and Honey. But the sweetness is balanced with a gentle tanginess of vinegar, though it’s mild. Then the flavor of Datil Peppers comes foward followed by a hint of Garlic to round out this sauce.
While this hot sauce is made with Datil Peppers, the sauce itself isn’t overly hot. They’ve tamed the heat of the peppers dramatically. On the heat scale (0-5), this is in the high 1s.
