Kiwi Jalapeno Hot Sauce from Horseshoe Brand is a verde sauce is absolutely packed full of flavors and each hits you in what tastes like a quick but orderly procession. It starts with a moderate tartness from both vinegar and citrus followed by a fairly robust saltiness. Then the tartness fades to a gentle sweetness as aspects of the kiwi fruit and agave nectar build and mellow out the vinegar. Next, the foundational flavor of the jalapeno pepper mash becomes clear, followed by onion and garlic which round out the flavor and add additional complexity.
The kiwi adds citrus and sweetness while not overly noticeable as on it’s own. Still it likely adds a unique quality that would otherwise be missing.
